As a decorative artist, Simon Leah’s practice is all about the applied surface and the interplay between light, colour, texture and materiality.
In recent years he’s incorporated function, (like lighting) into his screens, mirrors and objects and played with scale from smaller domestic items like table tamps through to large scale installations like his 2020 commission for Scentre Group in Westfield Doncaster, (Victoria).
He is currently exploring, (and reinterpreting) Victorian Architectural decorative forms like Acanthus leaf ceiling Roses and pressed tin ceilings, realised in new materials, utilising new technologies with both domestic and commercial application.
